Sidharth Malhotra reveals his first paycheck was Rs. 7000; ‘was daunting to debut in Student Of The Year’

“I think for me, it was very daunting to be on such a massive set in the first place. It's like a very farfetched dream to stay in New Delhi and believe in a service background household, a middle-class household, to believe that you can become an actor and be on the big screen. They used to make fun of me. My family never used to take me seriously because it was not something I was open about when I was a kid. I didn't like it there. It was only in my late teens that I started working with still cameras and then that whole thing happened. People started seeing different aspects,” Sidharth Malhotra told Pinkvilla.

Sidharth also talked about the ‘massive launch’ with Student Of The Year was a ‘big milestone’ for him. “For me being on that first film, you know getting such a massive launch is a big milestone in my life. Now when I look back at 10 years okay great I thought that was the difficult part to get in there. But then I realize the struggles one has to be or go through to sustain themselves. It’s a big task to entertain this country and be in this business," he added.

Speaking about the experience working as an Assistant Director on Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan, the actor said, “It was like being in Disneyland and seeing Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, assisting Karan Johar and those big sets.”

On the work front, Sidharth Malhotra will be seen in Ajay Devgn-starrer Thank God, which also features Rakul Preet Singh. He has Mission Majnu with Rashmika Mandanna, Yodha with Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna, and Rohit Shetty’s Indian Police Force with Shilpa Shetty, and Vivek Oberoi.
