With Jacqueline Fernandez, Pooja Hegde as the leading ladies, the film is a slapstick comedy that hit the theatres this week and fans have been eagerly awaiting this Christmas release. Interestingly this is yet another holiday release after the duo collaborated for Simmba way back in 2018. In an exclusive interview to Bollywood Hungama, the lead actor confessed that his relationship with the filmmaker has evolved beyond just being a director and actor, and how he is like a big brother to the Gully Boy star.

EXCLUSIVE Ranveer Singh reveals he said yes to Cirkus in 3 seconds; says, “My relationship with Rohit Shetty has evolved beyond actor-director”

Elaborating on his relationship with Rohit Shetty, Ranveer Singh told Bollywood Hungama, “I would say what is there to consider when you are working with the best in the business. First of all, there is immense trust between us because our relationship has evolved beyond director-actor. Now he is like a big brother to me, not just in movie business engagement but also into one's life. And the trust lies in the fact that he is the master of his craft. He is not resting on the laurels that he's earned in the decade that he's been working. He is still pushing himself. He knows that his next is going to be the best and later, again, his next is going to be the best. He's got integrity and purity in his approach towards his craft. Nobody works harder and nobody is so crystal clear about what he's creating. You can bet your house on it.”

He further went to recall how he agreed to do the film in a few seconds. “I took me like a second. I remember it was in the middle of the afternoon, middle of the lockdown, I got a call while I was on the treadmill. I answered the phone, and he asked, 'Achha sun ek picture, karega kya'. And my response was, 'Haan boss karenge'. It took me 3 seconds," he added.

Set against the backdrop of the 60s, Cirkus is inspired by William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors. It also features Varun Sharma in dual roles along with Jacqueline Fernandez and Pooja Hedge playing love interest of the two Ranveer Singh characters for the first time. The film released on December 23.
