Shahid Kapoor confesses Jersey failure broke his heart; says, “I feel that we didn’t do justice to the film” https://ift.tt/8pKUqeP

Kabir Singh, released in 2019, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead, performed extremely well at the box office despite being a Hindi remake. Thus, when the Nani-starrer film Jersey’s Hindi remake was announced, the makers were expecting it to perform well. However, this remake headlined by Shahid Kapoor failed to create the same magic. While commenting on the same, Shahid Kapoor talked about its various aspects. In an interview with Indian Express, the 42-year-old actor asserted, “It just broke my heart. It was a really beautiful film and I feel the universe was not kind to us. The songs were out; the film was pushed for four months. The universe was not kind. With Jersey I realised that films are like fast food, one has to consume it at that moment. If you wait, uska mazaa chala jaata hai. We haven’t ever faced such a scenario, a pandemic, so we didn’t know how to go about it. And unfortunately, the film had to suffer.” Explaining his take further while adding that this is why Farzi doing so well has made him ‘really really happy’, he said, “I also feel that we didn’t do justice to the film. We could have made better choices. I don’t know, some things are meant to be a certain way. Even when you have control over things, there’s sometimes no control. This was not the first time when Kapoor shed some light on the poor performance of Jersey. Earlier, during IIFA 2022, he had exclusively spoken about it with Bollywood Hungama. He had said, “All I'll say is that it's time to learn. And I think we all need to learn what's happening. And when I say all of us, I don't just mean me. I mean, everybody here, the entire community needs to learn from what's happening. And having done a certain amount of work, I've seen that the mood of the audience changes many times.” He further added, “Having said that, Jersey had a lot of things happening with it as well. I think we had multiple release dates, and we also suffered due to the lockdown and COVID. We got delayed, and a lot happened. But it's strange that I still get so much love for it. It’s also a very special film to me, and will always be very close to my heart. But there is a lot and we will learn.” Also Read: Shahid Kapoor celebrates as Farzi ranks number 1 on Prime Video TV Shows list globally
