Actor Vijay Sethupathi is kicking off 2023 with Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s Farzi starring alongside Shahid Kapoor. While he makes his series debut on Prime Video, he has a mega project with Shah Rukh Khan. The actor will play an antagonist in Atlee Kumar’s directorial, scheduled for June 2023 release. Sethupathi happens to be a big fan of SRK and he recently recalled his first meeting with the Bollywood superstar.
Speaking to India Today, Sethupathi revealed that he first met Jawan co-star Shah Rukh Khan at the Melbourne Film Festival in Australia. “I had never met SRK before. He praised me and it came as a shock to me. After the festival, we met at the after-party, and he came to me and said that he meant the praise. He told me that he really loved my film Vikram Vedha,” he said.
Sethupathi then recalled meeting SRK at Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s wedding. “I met SRK again at Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s wedding and I told him ‘I want to be a bad guy for you, sir.’ He said, ‘We were really hoping to cast you.’ From that conversation, we met and Jawan happened.”
Red Chillies Entertainment presents Jawan, the film is produced by Gauri Khan and helmed by Atlee Kumar. Jawan is scheduled for June 2, 2023 release in theatres. It also stars Nayanthara, and will be released in five languages making it Shah Rukh Khan’s first Pan India film.
